Applying eyeshadow. Sometimes it can be a daunting task if you aren’t too familiar with the method or process. If you are a beginner at applying eyeshadow, the variety of colors to choose from and how they will look on you with your eye color and skin tone can be a lot to digest. You may be struggling with how to apply eye makeup, but don’t fret! We have tried and tested an eyeshadow hack though that is simple and works. No skills necessary. We can’t wait to show you it.
The hack is simply drawing 5 lines on your eyelids and blending them out. It seems like it can’t possibly work once you begin, but as you go through the steps it actually starts to come together and works out really well. We love the finished product and how it looked. We will definitely be doing this hack much more! If you are someone new to applying eyeshadow and don’t know too much on how to apply eye makeup, this is a great method for you. See below for steps on how to do the hack and which products we love using for it.
How to do the Eyeshadow Hack
Steps to Eyeshadow Hack
- Using a small eyeshadow brush, draw 5 lines starting at the outer edge of your eye.
- Begin with the darkest eyeshadow and work your way down to the lightest eyeshadow color, which will land in the corner of the eye.
- If you use more pigmented colors in a palette, the look will be more dramatic. We love using 2 darker pigmented colors from the Berry Bad or Rose Water Bite Sized Eyeshadow Palette from Elf Cosmetics and 3 middle to lightest colors from the Tropic Amazonian Eyeshadow Palette from Tarte Cosmetics.
- Begin to blend the colors with your small eyeshadow brush.
- Blend colors starting in the middle and working your way to the outer edge. To ensure you don’t muddle the colors too much, wipe your eyeshadow brush with a towel before your blend the lighter area out.
- Blend until stripes no longer exist and colors are blended nicely.
Eyeshadow Palettes
These are some of our favorite eyeshadow palettes. They are neutral yet have some really pretty colors you can blend well with. They are also great for a range of skin tones and eye colors.
Eyeshadow Brushes
Below are some great and affordable eyeshadow brushes. You don’t have to purchase really expensive brushes to get a good product. These are great and perfect to have in your makeup arsenal being they all serve a purpose.
Final Look
This is the final look of how all of the colors blended together. We love how it all came together.
The process of how to apply eye makeup doesn’t need to be a scary process. Be creative and have fun with it. Work with neutral colors to start so everything isn’t so bold. If you have a bold eye, go with a neutral lip or vice versa. We love this hack and how easy it was. What do you think? Would you try it out? Make sure to share in the comments below.
